Canaan became the father of Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth 16 and the Jebusite and the Amorite and the Girgashite 17 and the Hivite and the Arkite and the Sinite 18 and the Arvadite and the Zemarite and the Hamathite; and afterward the families of the Canaanite were spread abroad. 19 The territory of the Canaanite extended from Sidon as you go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; as you go toward Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. 20 These are the sons of Ham, according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, by their nations.
Oh, this is not the type of Bible Study I want to do this morning! Just being honest. Ok, I will settle in, this is important!
Ok, Canaan is the 4th son, the youngest of the children on Ham, who a son of Noah.
So, Noah -> Ham -> Canaan -> Sidon and Heth and a whole bunch of "ites" who were spread abroad
Oh for a map! Gaza, at least that I've heard of.
Ok, those were the sons and nations of Ham.
I know that the land of Canaan becomes very important later so it is interesting to see that Canaan was populated by the sons of Ham. I'll try to remember that when we get to the land of Canaan in later text.
